We hope everyone had a great Fourth of July holiday this past weekend! We had a fantastic weekend filled with fun, relaxation, and travel to and from our destinations.
On Friday morning, we left for Nanny and Bapa's cabin and spent the entire day basking in the sun, hanging out with the kids, swimming in the pool, wiping sticky popsicle juice off Jack's face and going for a nice walk with the kids. Our adventures also included a quick Happy Hour, if you will, for the Moms at the cabin. We have made it into Waterville for the second time in a row when we (Kathy, Tina and I - plus Aunt Margie this time) are all together at the cabin. Yes, we took the convertible and hit the road for some uncensored fun at the Corner Bar... yep, that's the real name and it is really on the corner! We have decided that we can afford an hour trip in to get some girl time/ girl talk in while the guys slave over watching the kids, changing diapers, etc. and it has been so well worth it! This last time might go down in the books as we were hit on by two men in a Mercedes SUV at the local gas station. The smell rolling out of that car was pungent, let me tell you. Those guys were cruisin' with some intense cologne on that had a way of escaping out of the car and attacking our noses! Anyway, it was good fun.
Friday night, Russ (aka Bapa) did his annual fireworks show for the kids and adults since it is pushing it to get 6 kids under the age of 7 to a fireworks show in a neighboring town that start after 10pm! This works out perfectly and we can all stay put at the cabin! Good job this year, Russ!! Well, Jack was sacked out after about the fourth firecracker, so we brought him in and put him to bed and soon thereafter, Sophie and I followed suit. We were wiped! Mike stayed up with the family and shot the bull for a few extra hours and ended up sleeping in a tent on the patio out back by the woods so he wouldn't wake us up.

Saturday morning rolled around and Mike was no longer in the tent. He was asleep on the couch. Once he got up, he told all of us that when he got up in the middle of the night, he woke up to a firecracker going off in the little red wagon where Russ put all of the left over fireworks, about 10 feet from his tent. Sparkling all green and blue and shooting off right there!! He told us he had to do the side kick and roll so he didn't get burned and then it was out and the excitement for the night was over, so back in the tent he went. That is... until he heard some more raucous going on outside of his tent again...
This time, he was hearing raccoon calls, which at first, he found kind of cute since he was sleeping in nature. The calls got louder and more frequent and then turned into what Mike calls WORLD WAR III in the woods directly behind him!! He heard hissing and noises that seemed to prove something was loosing the battle. It got so intense that he couldn't take it anymore and he unzipped the tent and bolted for the house! I looked out the window at the tent and saw that it was still unzipped and the blanket was trailing out of the tent and half way on the patio. Clearly, he was freaked out!
Saturday, we spent the afternoon seeing Chris and Tina's beautiful new house in Mankato and the guys when golfing while Tina and I stayed with the kids and played! It was a great afternoon. As you can see, the Noah and Jack had some fun of their own!

Then, we hit the highway and headed West to NU for some German food and good company with Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Chad, Paula, and Katie! We relaxed, unwound, and had a fun night with the fam watching another movie after the kids hit the hay!
Sunday was so unbelievably hot and humid... so you know it really was, because I like it HOT! After some water fun in the pool at the park with Jack, we took a little ride in Jack's favorite camper. Mike and Jack sat up on the bed above the driver's seat and looked out the window and we just had a lazy, great time together!
The weekend was BUSY, but so many memories made which makes all of it worth every bit of travel and packing!!
