Jack is FOUR!

Birthday week started officially on the Friday before Jack's birthday to ring in Jack turning 4!  An early pick up from Stacey's and a long-awaited visit to Jack's preschool (Holy Spirit) kicked off day one of birtday weekend!  He was so adorably shy, yet curious, about it!  We got to see the kids at the end of the day and the teachers too!  He was pretty proud and feeling like a big boy after we left!!  We also thought we better take in the new Shrek that evening, and it didn't disappoint!  (We know that because there was only one trip the bathroom and no video game intermissions!)

Sunday WAS Jack's birthday and it was filled with anything and everything he wanted, naturally! Birthday breakfast started out with chocolate chip waffles, breakfast sausage, and eggs and quickly migrated toward the chocolate donut Daddy picked up as a surprise, complete with a candle!

We hit the back 40 for a family game of baseball after breakfast! (LOVE having the baseball field in our backyard!) The kids were totally into it and we got some healthy competition going! LOVE THAT! Next, it was back home for Pressie Time! Jack got round one of his gifts... while the second round is yet to come at his extended family birthday party this Saturday at the lake!

The one request he had when I asked him last week where he'd want to eat for his birthday... was that he wanted a picnic (pic-a-nic-a... as I call it) at a park. We decided on the Soccer Field Park that the kids and I walked to on the bike trail from our old house on my day off all last summer! It was a total hit and a relaxing way to spend a nice, hot afternoon together! We played hide and seek in the evergreens, swang as a family on the big swing, laid in the grass, at some good food, and just laughed! Sophie and I left with sapp-covered feet because running in the grass sans shoes sounded so great!

Next, it was back home for the cupcake birthday cake we prepped!  The green on green giant cupcake was a hit!

The weekend after Jack's official birthday was designated Lake Day Opener so off to Waterville the four of us went to celebrate Jack's 4th birthday with both families!  The rain stopped, the clouds parted, (the wind stayed incistant), and the sun shone on the cabin!  It was a GREAT day for swimming and taking in some Vitamin D!  Day two of birthday week... a total success!

I think birthday week was a success!
