I have to tell you that she exercised full rights when it came to any/all decision-making around the house the entire week of her birthday and into her birthday party weekend. Cartoons were to be her choice, what we ate was her choice, and just about anything else she felt like deciding... (you got it...) was her choice! I love a girl who knows what she likes, but I did warn her that Jack's birthday is just around the corner so choose wisely!
First, we enjoyed dinner at Michael's, the kids' self-claimed 'favorite' restaraunt, with Nanny and BaPa before they were set to leave for Aruba. Sophie got a doll and a doll potty... this is something that had Nanny and her laughing for days! So... she was THRILLED!
The morning of her birthday she awoke to inquiries about just HOW tall she had grown and if this was REALLY her for-real birthday day. It was priceless and adorable!
Throughout the day, we celebrated with treats for her PreK class, and afternoon nap, treats for her ballet class, and then a birthday dinner of her choosing, consisting of pink, heart-shaped pancakes. Nothing short of girlie! She opened our families gifts and got her very first pink, Pottery Barn jewelry box with music box, a twirling ballerina, and KEY. She adored it immediately and proceeded to carry it from room to room with her whenever she was awake, starting in the morning and going until the evening. Jack gave her a swimming and singing Ariel mermaid doll. He knows her number too! She had quite the bathtime with her new doll!
Two days later on Saturday, it was (half) her day all over again. (She shared her day with Jack in the monring hours for his end-of-year hockey jamboree event.) We had all our family over to our home to celebrate with food, play, dress-up (in my old dance/skating costumes) and cake! Here are some of the highlights from her fairy party!
