Easter Weekend

It was our year to spend Easter in New Ulm.  The line-up of events was plentiful, as usual, and we had a fantastic and full weekend with everyone! 

To start the weekend festivities off right, we went to German Park for the annual Easter Egg Hunt!  The kids were pumped, and we were too!  It was a fast and furious grab and go experience, but our kids are fighters so they got in and got out quickly in time for the real prize... the candy and juice boxes!!

We came. We found.  We left. 

Immediately following the hunt, us girls headed to a wedding shower for Amber Martins, my 2nd cousin.  The theme was a tea party so we were all asked to wear hats.  Sophie complied. 

Meanwhile, the boys all went out to the airport to look at planes!  Jack's imagination took them on quite the long trip as he sat in the pilot's seat navigating his way!  Wish I had photos of that!!

Once we all reconviened, we went to visit my Aunt Laurie, Uncle Ed, and cousin Nate who were in town for the holiday weekend to celebrate with all of us and Ben!  We took the kids to the hotel swimming and they had the best time!  Jack was so brave and wanted to jump in right from the begining!  Sophie, and her fearless nature, was right behind him whether we were ready for her or not!  We all swam like fish for as long as we could and then Mike and I decided to admit defeat and call it.  The kids officially wiped us out.  Swimming is tough work, right?  Not to mention, the Easter Bunny had quite a bit of work ahead of himself... or should I say, herself? 

Easter morning was chaos!  The Easter egg hunt started the minute the kids woke up, naturally.  The found all their eggs and even the golden eggs (with paper money inside)... which in years to come I am betting they go for first!  This is a tradition that Mike's parents have done in the past and thought would be so fun to start as one of our own.  My parents did this too, just not in the 'golden' eggs.  Here are our little bunnies running around on Easter morning!

Once we took care of that business, it was time for the most important part of Easter... Easter Mass.  Down to St. Mary's we went, arriving late as per our usual holiday schedule. We celebrated the rest of the afternoon at the NUCC (aka New Ulm Country Club).  It was a beautiful day out and we took full advantage by lingering as long as possible before making the trip home to Rochester!  What a great family weekend!
